Sustained

This is the only song that I’ve ever really been even mildly proud of. But anyways, it came out of Matthew. I was reading through the book and was just kind of amazed at the faith of the people that came to Jesus.  These people brought to Jesus deep physical and spiritual brokenness, knowing full well that He was the one they needed all along. They came to him humbly, in complete reverence of the power before them. But, what’s more, is how Jesus responded to their faith and their aching hearts. So, when I got through the book I was encouraged through these people, and Jesus, to live by that kind of reverence and faith in God. And that’s when I realized, birds and flowers have more faith in me, which is almost ridiculous, and that’s where this came from…

Sustained
Look at the sparrows in the sky
They soar away towards The Most High
They don’t reap, sow, or store away
Yet the Father provides for them just the same

May I be the flower in the field
May I be the bird in the tree
May I not worry about what I eat or what I drink
For You hear and provide for what I need

Look how the lilies in the field grow
They too do not reap or store
Yet the Father clothes them in his beauty
And they rise up higher to feel His warmth

May I be the flower in the field
May I be the bird in the tree
May I not worry about what I eat or what I drink
For You hear and provide for what I need

I have been sustained
I have been sustained

May I be the flower in the field
May I be the bird in the tree
May I not worry about what I eat or what I drink
For You hear and provide for what I need

Why isn’t it beautiful that I’ve been sustained?
