Just a Few Things (In other words… Guatemala here I come)

All around
Hope is springing up from this old ground
Out of chaos life is being found in You

You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us

Well, it’s Friday night. My family and I are driving out at 12am for Chicago to make my flight. It seems kind of unbelievable still, but alas, it’s here and it’s time to start down this new road. It’s tough, I really don’t want to leave what I have here – my friends, family, support, and everything I have known to be life. But, I really feel God is pushing me to get out of my comfort zone, to take a  step back from where I am and move into what He has for me.  I can hear Him prodding me with  His gentle voice  saying, “It’s time”. So, all I do is to trust in that, because when God speaks it means beautiful things.

Here are a few things that you may (or may not) want to know for while I’m gone:

  1. By the sounds of it, I will not have access to Facebook the entire 6 months I am in Guatemala.  So, this site will be my main avenue for communication. Even if I don’t have access to this particular site, I will email posts to here, which means there will be posts, but I just won’t be able to respond to comments or anything. I hope to post here once on week (probably on Saturdays), except for later on when I won’t be in the city and near internet access. I will try my best to post once a week, but sorry in advance if I don’t get a chance to post frequently.
  2. If you would like to get in touch with me down there (which would be totally awesome and definitely welcomed), email is the best route. You can email me at adam_hughes@frontier.com. I’ll try to figure out my snail mail address once I’m down there, if anybody wants to send mail (though I can’t receive any packages or anything “big”). And if you would like to comment on the posts directly on this site, I should be able to be in contact with you that way as well.
  3. You can subscribe to the post on this blog by filling in your email in the black box at the bottom right hand of this page. This will send an email to you every time I post a blog.
  4. Each post should get sent to Facebook automatically (which I’m kinda testing out with this post), so if you want to check for post that route, that would be cool too.

By the way, thanks to all of those who came to the prayer night tonight, you all are such a blessing to me. It really meant to me more than you’ll know. You will be missed.

Peace.
